The ThrustSSC holds today's land speed record. The ThrustSSC is 54 feet in length, and 12 feet wide. This massive machine is powered by two turbofans, about as big as the vehicle. The engines are called the Rolls-Royce Spey 205s'. This massive machine weighed 10.7 metric tons. This powerful machine broke the record at a mind-blowing speed of 763.035 mph!

The ThrustSSC stands for Thrust Supersonic Car. It was made by Ron Ayers, Glynne Bowsher, Jeremy Bliss, Richard Noble and manufactured by SSC Programme Limited.

The car broke the record in October 1997 in Nevada. This car was driven by a Royal Air Force fighter pilot, due to the engines being able to output 223 kN, they needed someone that can handle that many G-Forces.
